Thuy Huong Coffee Lounge Review ~ Vietnamese - Illawarra Road Marrickville

Ah Marrickville, Paddington of the Orient.

Thuy Huong Coffee Lounge is one of the legendary Vietnamese hole-in-the wall street food joints of Marrickville. What I love most about this restaurant is the signage: Thuy Huong Coffee Lounge, Open Till Late. The place has little to do with coffee, even less to do with lounging, and it shuts early. Sure signs of quality.

When I'm HUNGRY I crave their broken rice combination: a healthy big serve of broken rice and mixture of porky goodies.

The star of the show is a grilled, lightly spiced pork chop. Food porn.

And that's not spaghetti kids, it's shredded pork skin: sounds bad, tastes great, like porky noodles dusted with white pepper. Also food porn.

My favourite part of the dish is the 'mystery roll' component: kind of like pork spring rolls in a leafy green wrapper. Unidentified but definitely food porn. This dish is topped with a soft fried egg, salad, some sweet chili sauce and a bowl of clear soup on the side. It is $11 and I don't have to eat again all day. We've eaten here more times that we can remember, we have a few favourite dishes, which reminds me, I must try their congee...
