Ho's Dim Sim Kitchen ~ Chinese - Pitt Street City

We find great dim sum and get mugged by a possum.

The Haymarket end of Pitt Street in the City is a buzzy place these days, lots of people and plenty of new places to eat. We find ourselves in need of a wee snack and stumble upon Ho's Dim Sim Kitchen. We are drawn in by the hot, ready-to-go dim sum. We try a golden fish ball, a prawn and chive roll and a bbq pork bun. Yum.

You could stock up here on dim sum and have yum cha at home.

There's also some interesting frozen side dishes such as duck feet, beef brisket and goat casserole.

And lots of sweeties.

But we're just here for a quick hot fix.

The place was hugely popular, stocks were running low, that's the bbq pork pie above.

Ho's Dim Sim Kitchen was very popular, it felt like a little piece of Hong Kong in Sydney.

To continue the Hong Kong vibe we go to Paddy's Market for the infamous Sunday afternoon fruit and veg sell-off.

5.30pm on Sunday at Paddy's Market is as close as you can get to a busy Chinese market overseas. It's frenetic and fun, the produce is cheap and in season. We walk out with a huge bag of fruit and veg for $5. We are accosted by possum in the park near Sydney Uni, he demands a banana or our life, it's a tough city.

Ho's Dim Sim Kitchen is at 429a Pitt Street, City. The Haymarket end. You can also check their wares and order online from their website: http://www.hosdimsimkitchen.com.au/

  1. My mother brought home 60 mantou buns from this place on Friday. They are out of this world.

  2. Have you guys ever tried a place called Sydney Best Dim Sim on Thomas(?) Street in Chinatown? Similar to Ho's, but they also serve Chinese meals and there's tables to sit down.

  3. I like the Dim Sims frozen put them in Woolworths/Aldi supermarket cooler bag (which keeps them frozen). Just heat them slowly (lowest gas flame) in non-stick (Flavorstone) fry pan with lid on, turn them once (in 15 minutes) ten in another 15 minutes they are ready.
Sauce is made by Kikkoman Soy sauce (Aldi Jap soy OK) just make enough for servig (like half a cup) to this add one third Apple/Wine viniger (vary to your taste) and a tea spoon English mustard (to your taste, mustards vary in hotness, I prefer Colemans). The Soy/Viniger/Mustard sauce can be blended together with spoon, I actually make a half cup portion and blend in blender to keep remander in fridge. The sauce is just to dip Dim Sim of choice in
