SuperMeal ~ Chinese - Chinatown

It's comfort food time at an old favourite, SuperMeal on Goulburn Street, Chinatown.

We make our usual Friday blunder of too many beers and bad karaoke at the Covent Garden hotel in Chinatown. Once again we don't make to the intended restaurant (Cafe Joy for Indonesian Ramadan specials), but somehow it works out for the best, tonight comfort food is in order so we head to an old favourite, SuperMeal in Goulburn Street.

There's nothing more comforting than a big $8 bowl of congee with pork and preserved egg. Tasty and generous with the googy egg, joy!

Something sweet and shiny to go with our congee - Shredded Pork in Hoisin, $17.00. Delicious.

SuperMeal seems to have changed hands recently, just a guess. The walls have had a lick of paint but don't worry, SuperMeal is still gloriously shabby and joyously noisy. The authentic Hong Kong style service is as curt and efficient as always, though we do miss the lads with the 'Final Fantasy' haircuts, and what's with those lame name tags? And the food, oh the food... We love this place to bits.

SuperMeal is at 39 Goulburn Street, Chinatown, a great late night option and one of our all time favourites.
