We prove that soup and a sandwich is certainly a meal at Sofra in Auburn.
Dangnabbit we love Auburn on a weekend afternoon, there's always a joyful buzz to the place. Today our feasting pick is the ever popular Sofra.
Normally we OD on meat and carbs at Turkish grill joints. So today we mix it up with soup, we take a punt on soup with lamb - $7. And what a punt it was, up yours Cazaly.
This soup was amazing, so amazing we forgot to write down the name of it. It had strong lemon flavours and a generous dollop of cooked-forever lamb. The taste reminded of 'essence de pide' - that georgous orange, lemony oily juice that you get on the bottom of a turkish pizza box.
Fresh bread for soup dunking.
Salad: tomato, cucumber and olives. Topped with parsley. So fresh, simple and tasty. Cucumber and tomato are a magic combination, the olives give it a special oomph.
Grilled kebab plate with extra stick - $16. Served with a mound of bread and salad. The bread underneath is soaked with kebab juices, eat this first before your partner notices :-)
Our choice of flesh is marinated chicken and my favourite, the Adana kebab, mildly spiced minced lamb cooked on a skewar. A Turkish rissole. Long live mince.

Veggie plate - $8 with a basket of fresh flat bread.
A whole jug of ayran - plain drinking yoghurt - around $8.
Gotta go that double grill plate - adana & lamb - around $16.
We love how the bread from the grill plate is lightly fried in the meat juices on the grill plate. Yum.
