Pho Sam Noodle House ~ Vietnamese - Epping

We find ourselves in Epping with time and tummy rumbles to kill. We sniff around both sides of the train line to find something sufficiently shabby for our discerning tastes.

Pho Sam Noodle House looks perfect. It meets our dodgy aesthetic with a mix of old shop decorative ceiling panels, faux wooden walls and plastic tables. Brilliant. The joint is popular, we were lucky to get a seat.

The pho here is quite different with a touch of star anise in the broth, we like it.

An old favourite: crispy skin chicken noodle soup. The fried chook is served on the side, just the way we like it. The big bowl of Chinese broth and noodles makes the fried chicken seem healthy.

We enjoyed our feed at Pho Sam, the staff were nice and we love the atmosphere. Worth it alone for the epic trip through the kitchen to the bathroom. It's not somewhere to trek across town for but if we lived near Epping we'd be regulars for sure.  Pho Sam is at 14 Oxford Street, Epping. 1. You should have tried the Ba Wang chicken on the specials board - that is something special.

  4. Wow, Epping (my home) on the Street Food blog! We are famous! Went to Hong's Kitchen next door on Friday night and it was great, and very busy. Pho Sam was even busier (but it does have fewer tables) - had a queue outside at 8.00pm so will have to give this a go next time.
    Stan.
