Sushi Nagashima Closes...

It is time for a minute's silence. Sydney's finest, most wonderful, most Japanese eating experience, the Tetsuya's of the Food Courts, Sushi Nagashima, has announced it has closed it's doors.

We would just love to say thankyou to Mr Nagashima and staff for all the wonderful, made to order chirashi bowls and bentos (even the onigiri was made fresh to order!). This was one of the few joints in Sydney where Japanese folks line up to eat. Our only regret is that we didn't discover it when it opened in 2008. We are truly, truly sad.

Mr Nagashima says he wants to focus on his catering business. If we were having an event we would be contacting Neo Marucho in a flash, the food is just so Japan and he is quite the entertainer.

  2. Such a shame. Such a good place. Bookmarking his website for future. Maybe I can use his catering services one day.

  3. Maybe want to try Taste of Cho? Lower floor, Market City. I was there one lunchtime and the queue was serious! Lots of interesting things (anchovies, tofu skins, strange vegetables etc).

  4. A part of me died when I found this place had closed down. Had to steel myself to go into Hunter Connection today after a full month of mourning.

In its old spot, there's a new onigiri shop called "Ooh Rice?!" that had only opened up a few days ago. Staff seem friendly and excited... the free onigiri went a little way to patching the Sushi Nagashima void.
