This blog is all about celebrating Sydney's wonderful culinary underbelly of cheap and cheerful ethnic restaurants. It's not just the great food, we get a sense of being overseas and immersed in another culture. We are travel food nerds.
Our motto: dodginess is next to godliness. When we go out to eat we make it an adventure, we eat out to enjoy, not to nitpick. Stuff like lighting, decor and how comfy the seats are is irrelevant to us, in fact the dodgier the better we reckon.
Service schmervice. We are not fussy about service, though it is usually cheery and efficient, we find that if we are nice we get nice service in return, if not who cares, what does one expect when paying on average $10 a dish? As long as we are fed we are happy.
We only blog the restaurants we like. If we eat at a restaurant we don't like we won't blog it. Fortunately bad street food restaurants are hard to find. In ten years or so of trawling street food places I can only think of a couple that were just plain bad. We have a good eye for street food joints and Miss Chicken has a sixth sense when it comes to ordering. We are rarely disappointed. I wish we could say the same for ‘regular’ restaurants…
We revisit restaurants often, even after a few years. We have been known to visit a restaurant up to ten times to sample their wares and we often go back to check on how they are doing.
We blog for the fun of it. This blog is just a bit of self-education and self-expression for two people who can't colour inside the lines. We don't seek or accept freebies or payments from restaurants, and we are not employed in any related industry. We do accept the occasional freelance writing gig from publishers who like bad spelling.
