We're back in food court love with Sichuan cuisine at Sussex Centre's Jinmen.
A Sydney food blog celebrating the world's great culinary underbelly. We are ham-fisted enthusiasts who dig traditional foods, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and international supermarkets of mystery.

We're on a mission to revisit and celebrate our favourite Sydney restos before they morph into apartment blocks, this time it's Bankstown Lebanese Restaurant.

Chinatown Noodle Restaurant
After a run of kickarse noodle soup at Chinatown's revered Noodle Pot, we tell Noodle Pot boss dude that his soups are among the best in town. Noodle Pot boss dude looks bewildered and says "but haven't you tried the restaurant around the corner? It's northern style..."

Panlasang Pinoy ~ Filipino, Kogarah
The most fun way to get into some Pinoy food is at one of Sydney's big handful of little Filipino shops that are varying parts grocery store, takeway, restaurant, community hub and caterer, in varying order.

La Gavotte Restaurant & Creperie ~ French - Noumea, New Caledonia
We sneak in a final cheeky lunch at La Gavotte, crepes and Breton style galettes by the water in Baie des Citrons. A light lunch in theory at least, after a week of meat and cream.

Chi Fong ~ Vietnamese - Eating World Food Court, Chinatown
Chi Fong in Eating World Food Court adds a bit of variety to the usual offerings with a mix of Vietnamese dishes. Barack Obama would approve.

Au P'tit Cafe ~ Noumea, New Caledonia
Au P'tit Cafe is one of our favourite restaurants in the world - it's the penultimate New Caledonian restaurant - upbeat and cheffy yet island style relaxed, French inspired with touches of Asia and Pacific.

Gone but not forgotten 2017 - our annual round up of departed eating spaces
Was 2017 a better year to be in the food business than 2016, and who made it through? Our annual round up of places gone but not forgotten this year seems bigger than ever.

Hammoud 1 ~ Lebanese - Liverpool
We hook hard left into Liverpool on our way back from Canberra, a stop we'll be making more often. We score an easy park on the edge of town, right across the road from Hammoud 1, a joint we sniffed out on an earlier recon mission.

Campsie Hotel ~ Vietnamese / Australian - Campsie
Campsie Hotel has a large and popular bistro tucked away out the back, filled with big families sharing dishes or couples having a quiet beer and lunch.

La Marmite ~ French - Noumea, New Caledonia
La Marmite could very well sum up everything you need for a typical Noumea fancy pants lunch - good food, great view.

Xi'an Biang Biang ~ Xian Chinese - Chinatown
The north bit of Chinatown's Dixon Street has an interesting strip of inside-out joints that are always fun to eat in, we've never had anything we'd call a bad meal along here. Xi'an Biang Biang fits in spicely nicely.
