More top shelf Japanese in Neutral Bay, Sydney's Japantown.
The view of Military Road may not be inspiring but Japanophiles will get a kick out of Cafe Porco's interior which we forgot to photograph, it's not fancypants but something about it really reminded us of sitting in a cafe in Japan - the blonde wood tables, low lighting, lots of Japanese chatter in the background, and muzak really drove that feeling home. They love a bit of muzak in Japan, we reckon it's where 1980s saxophone players retire.
The menu is a mix of modern Japanese and Strayan cafe food. It was the Japanese spaghetti that reeled us in, oh how we love Japanese spaghetti.
Japanese vongole linguine - $23. Oh my this really tooks us back to Japan, the pasta is perfectly, perfectly, perfectly cooked with a lovely bite. And the sauce - so simple yet so perfect.
Japanese bolognaise - $19. Perfectly cooked pasta as always, under a doona of thick rich sauce, a soft poached egg and a little parmesan.
We'll be back to try the katsu sandwich and dessert. And everything else. Including the eggslut. Highly recommended.
Cafe Porco is at 99 Military Road, Neutral Bay.

Is "eggslut" a fascinatingly named dish, or a deliciously Freudian typo?
