We could get a similar feed in our inner-west bubble. Maybe. But we are far happier schlepping out to Bankstown and getting it at the source.
We love the no-frills-ness of Bankstown Lebanese Restaurant, it goes with the name. Not much has changed since our last visit five years ago, though they have got a new telly.
And we love the crowd this place attracts: everybody. There's boofy fluro blokes from the building sites, families slap-up lunching, shoppers taking a break and the odd slick dude-about-town. It's one of those restaurants that feels as much a community service as a business.
You know when your REALLY hungry and they bring out that plate of salad first which is like a teaser.
Kabeh yayneh - $10. Translated to Strayan, this is a 'yeah-nah' - spiced raw lamb mince - hella rich on it's own but perfect with a bit of bread and pickle. Yeah-nah it's fantastic.
The bit of bread on top is house made we think, like a bit pita. Underneath is your regular Lebanese bread.
