Maruyu Japanese Supermarket & Pocari Sweat Addicton Explained

Snorting Pocari Sweat is a health hazard.

I never did find the mythical schoolgirl used underpant vending machine in Japan. But I did get addicted to Pocari Sweat, a Japanese sports drink introduced in the 1980s and now popular all over asia. I only tried the stuff to see if tasted like sweat. It doesn't taste like sweat, though it is just a a little salty. And it's not as sugary sweet as Gatorade, you can really gulp the stuff down, brilliant for hangovers. Now I'm hooked. I need a big two litre bottle of the stuff to get a fix. But the big bottles are hard to find in Sydney. And don't give me the powder sachets, it clogs my nostrils.

Fortunately Maruyu Japanese Supermarket at the southern end of Clarence Street caters for Pocari Sweat junkies, dishing out big two litre bottle of the stuff for anybody with the yen and the itch.

It's the Korean edition of Pocari Sweat. It's good but not quite as good as Japan. Keep a bottle or two in the pantry for serious hangover therapy, you won't regret it.

This Japanese TV commercial explains everything you need to know about Pocari Sweat. Not. Marayu Japanese Supermarket - Home of Big Bottles of Pocari Sweat There's a few places around to find Pocari Sweat but we love Maruyu Japanese Supermarket cause it's just dang fun: it's like a little Japan-world in the city. They have the little tray to put your money in by the cash register just like Japan, and the cashiers are uber smiley and give you change with two hands and a wee bow. The door chime even has a sing song ding dong just like in a Japanese convenience store. Upstairs is a mini Japanese 100 yen shop, the Japanese equivalent of a $2 shop, except this one is a $2.50 shop. Miss Chicken doesn't rate it highly though, in fact it almost seems to upset her a little. She takes her 100 yen shops very seriously. Marayu Japanese Supermarket - Home of Big Bottles of Pocari Sweat Maruyu Japanese Supermarket is a fun place to find a sweety after a feed in Chinatown. They have one of Miss Chicken's favourite Japan travel snacks: tiny little chocolate chip cookies. Marayu Japanese Supermarket - Home of Big Bottles of Pocari Sweat I'm not sure what they are called but they are very moorish, not to mention cute.

Muruyu Japanese Supermarket is at 283-285 Clarence Street, city.
