Pinangsia Noodle House ~ Indonesian - Kingsford [CLOSED]

We return to another old favourite, Pinangsia Noodle House on Anzac Parade, Kingsford. We devour bakmi ayam, bakso goreng, lontong sayur and pempek lenjur. [CLOSED]

Pinangsia Noodle House is one of our all time favourites, a small and friendly Indonesian noodle joint in Kingsford.

Frost Rut Bir Klasik - root beer. What is it about root beer/sars on a hot day? It just works.

Bakso Goreng - Fried Meatball - $1.50.

Bakso Goreng is hugely popular at Pinangsia Noodle House. It's a deep fried ball of manufactured mystery meat. I love it, Miss Chicken pretends not to.

Bakmi Ayam Karat - thick\thin egg noodles with chicken, mushrooms & wonton soup - $8.  We always go for the thick noodles.

Bakmi Ayam is the dish I come here for. The egg noodles have a unique buttery chicken flavour and are just delicious. We guess they are cooked in chicken stock, I also read they may be boiled then mixed in with some fat. I don't know but they taste great. The pieces of chicken and mushroom also unique and delicious. The dish comes with a small wonton soup on the side  (I like to pour the soup onto the noodles), and a crispy fried wonton on top. We first discovered this dish in Jakarta as bleated about in our previous Pinangsia Noodle House post, we have been in love with it ever since.

Lontong Sayur - sticky rice combined with mixed vegetables, chicken, cooked egg, in a mild spicy coconut soup - $8.20. The soup is thick and coconut heavy, laksa lovers should give it a try.

It has big hunks of rice cake and a generous serve of chook. It's very filling, Miss Chicken couldn't finish it.

Pempek Lenjur - fried mini fish cake - $2.40 each or 3 for $6.80. A plain fish cake lightly fried, delicious when dunked in the kecap manis (Indonesian sweet soy sauce - yum!) based dipping sauce.

This shot was taken on an earlier visit, the only time I have seen it empty was at 4pm on a Thursday afternoon. I love coming here on the weekends when it is packed with Indonesian extended families, couples, students and hipsters.

Pinangsia Noodle House is at 319 Anzac Parade, Kingsord. Tip: drinks are serve yourself, there's free tea and jugs of cold water in the fridge. Don't be shy.

  2. My GF and I love this place. For anyone getting the Bakso Goreng, don't forget to get some of the chili sauce in the back left hand corner of the store.
