Superbowl Rides Again!

The very much loved iconic Superbowl in Dixon Street Mall shut its doors during the zombie apolcalypse, news that even made the  hoighty toighty pages of Gourmet Traveller.  Along with the recent closure of BBQ King and the long-gone glory of Supermeal, we were beginning to think Chinatown's wonderful old school Cantonese restos were just a Tsingtao soaked memory.

But after a month Superbowl reopened with new owners, but has same staff, same menu, same decor, and same general awesomeness. So go there right now and tell them how much you love them. We did...

Shawn wonders why Alison orders a standard ol' duck noodle soup, until he tastes it. The duck is amazing, tinged with a flavour we have not encountered before. That's why this place is called Superbowl.

Probably the most celebrated dish at Superbowl is the XO pippies, but for us its the congee that brings us back time and time again, in particular the sampan congee - it has a little bit of everything and some crunchy peanuts for texture. Oh boy.

Eat your greens! We have found a bowl of congee with a side of greens in oyster sauce cures all the worlds problems. Well it cures a hangover anyway. Partly.

Superbowl is at 41 Dixon Street, Chinatown.

  1. Next time you order the sampan congee, ask for addition of century egg; and of course pair it with the Chinese doughnuts. You're welcome!
